- As a matter of fact, I have been working with Nicola Salmoria for
- over a year now on his application "NewIcons". Rather than just issue
- another set of icons, this appication enables the WB to display icons
- in their correct color, regardless of palette changes or order. The
- icons are automatically remapped when the palette changes (even if
- you change the palette order or colors with a palette tool), and the
- new icons do NOT delete the standard WB icons (or whatever icons you
- normally see on the WB). The new icons are displayed in place of the
- regular icons (if NewIcons is running), otherwise, the regular icon
- shows up. This means that you can have a custom NewIcon for an
- application/project/whatever on your machine, and if the icon is
- moved to a system not running NewIcons, the original icon will appear
- instead. Likewise, if the system is running NewIcons, the new icon
- will appear instead. The icons are 16 color, but NewIcons will
- support up to 256 color icons also. I have designed over 400 icons
- for this application (the initial application will ship with the
- replacements for WB issued icons only - the additional icons will be
- released as free also). I have also collected/created over 200
- patterns for tiling the WB which conform to the standard NewIcons
- palette (for OS2.x users - OS3.x users won't have the palette
- restrictions of OS2.x - DUH). I also have over 50 animated icons for
- ToolManager 2.X which will be distributed for free.
-
- As far as I know, the application should be RC status as we speak,
- and release is approx. 1 to 2 weeks away. Phil Vedovatti is
- developing the installer and AmigaGuide stuff, and the last betas I
- received looked final. He's on vacation this week, so I won't know
- the status until Monday (10-24).
-
- My apologies for straying off-topic --
-
- Back to LW...
-
- My question (perhaps rhetorical) is this... Does anyone know if
- downstream field modification of motion paths is in the future plans
- for LW? For instance, the ability to enter the motion editor, select
- "pitch", click on a keyframe indicator and then "push" the current value
- of that keyframe into all (or better yet, a user-definable range) of
- subsequent keyframes for that motion path?
-
-
- Regarding Forge;
-
- Excellent texture generator, compares with TextureScape for the
- Macintosh. From what I heard at the Flyer demonstration, LW will be
- modified to accept "Plug-In" technology, one of which will be
- procedural textures along the line of Essence. I have read that Xaos
- Tools (the Paint Alchemy folks) have reached an agreement with NewTek
- to develop plug-in technology for the Toaster/LightWave system.
